ABOUT US

The happy, healthy pigs of Rockweed Farm wander at will among birch, spruce, and fir forest on the rockbound coast of Downeast Maine. They eat when they’re hungry, sleep when they’re sleepy, and snuffle all day long among the rocks and roots. Their dedicated farmer knows each pig personally and lives in the same forest just a short whistle away.

WHO WE ARE

As development continues along the coast of Maine, Rockweed Farm is reclaiming land in Washington County for pasture and local agriculture.  Fed on a diet of corn and peas (no soy), the pigs have the run of the land. This certified organic, free range pork operation raises pigs as wild as it gets!

Rural heritage and regionalism are on the forefront of founder, Dan Colby’s mind. A third generation Mainer, Dan believes in the importance of community, land reclamation, and taking pride in your roots. Dan’s commitment to Rockweed Farm is a reflection of his commitment to his home.

Dan hopes that Rockweed Farm will be a part of the larger movement to create alternative, healthy, and accessible systems of agriculture.

It is vital to be reminded where we’re from and why that is important. It is what makes us who we are.
